TIPS ON HOW TO FIGHT DEPRESSION AMONG STUDENT SINCE ITS REAL

 Campus students are susceptible to depression due to potential factors such as stress in school,performance,finance issue,feeling of isolation or being away from friends and family.The following are ways which can help in controlling depression.

1.Engaging in psychotherapy.

No one should cope with depression alone.Trained and licensed mental professionals can support you to find a relief from your symptoms. They can help individuals to identify what issues are contributing to symptoms of depression and how best to address these.This will not only prevent and reduce symptoms of depression but also control future episodes of depression.

2.Strengthen on social connections

Involves putting time and energy in meeting new people and developing friendship.If you are feeling depressed,you cannot engage in activities.This may lead to isolation from family,friends and other peer supporters.Depression thrives in conditions of social isolation and loneliness.Breaking isolation and reaching out to others for support is powerful way to fight depression.Social connections include putting together a study group,set time with your room mate or students for weekly dinner,join campus clubs or intramural sports.Think how you stay connected to friends and family back at home.Emails a9nd phone call with family and long friends who you feel know you and can be uplifting.

3.Set healthy boundaries

One symptom of depression is a feeling of worthlessness or excessive guilty.Sometimes when feeling worthless or guilty we have a hard time saying no or setting boundaries in our best intrests.We may feel we need to say yes to every study group,every party or every time a friend asks for help with something however this approach can backfire.In effort to enjoy and setting good boundaries is like setting good goals.This can mean going to a long run and then to bed early rather than going to a party your friend really wants you to go with her.It can be hard to disppoint  people saying no or setting boundaries especially if we already feel inexplicable worthless or guilty.

4.Improve your sleep habits.

Sleep is so critical to mental health and learning how to prioritize and get enough sleep is an important skill.Students should try to limit social commitments,continous studying or prolonged engagements.

5.Avoiding drug and alcohol use.

Students should avoid alcohol abuse.Alcohol,substance abuse and depression often go hand in hand.People who are struggling with depression tend to turn into drugs for relaxation,getting their mind off things or having fun.This approach in most cases backfires and results into more troubles.

6.Spend time in nature.

Spending time in may reduce symptoms of depression.Benefits of spending time outdoors in nature have been useful.They include activities like walking,hiking,running,skiing,swimming or travelling.Steal a day and enjoy moving away from your study place.

7.Exercise

Researchers have discovered that exercising reduces stress,anxiety and depression.It in addition improves memory and thinking.Students should participate on different games and sports.Apart from reducing stress,exercising helps in controlling diseases and building the body.
