WHO WILL WIPE THE TEARS OF THE WEEPING GIRL CHILD!

The girl child has equal rights which should be respected just as the rights of other people.

Girl child abuse is cruelty and unfair treatment.Today the girl child has been subjected to suffering denying her the privilege to enjoy their rights.The following are ways in which the girl child has been tortured :

1.Sexual abuse.

Many people even close relatives have taken the advantage of lower age and little knowledge to abuse  girlso sexually.There after they are threatened never to tell anyone failure to that they will be killed.After refusal,some girls find themselves raped without mercy by even people they call uncles,neighbours or cousins.This has affected them emotionallly and physically.In addition, it has resulted to teenage pregnancies making them to drop out of school therefore burying their educational goals never to think about them again.Further more,defilement has resulted to stigmatization and discrimination.Girls are seen as voiceless vessels who have no say in the community.Such activities have subjected girls to depression to an extend of others committing suicide.It has taken others more than ten years to heal psychologically.After giving birth,many do not continue with education therefore being forced to  carry heavy parental responsibilities at their tender age.Despite sexual harassment cases being addressed fairly in courts,corruption is done denying the little weeping girl justice.Once these girls have been sexually abused,they loose self esteem which is vital in their teenage growth.The question is,why should the little girl be denied justice.

2.Emotional abuse.

This entails absence of parental love,care,verbal abuse,lack of appreciation,threats,rejection and discrimination.Emotional abuse has some effects such as fear,anger,hurt and degradation.Once the girl child is subjected to the above,she lives a life of self pity and discontentment.The weakened bond between the parents and the girl child has resulted to depression to an extent of even some girls committing suicide.

3.Physical abuse.

Some families and communities have valued the boy child more than the girl child.This has lead to torture and tomentment of the girl child.By this they are subjected to beating,hitting,slapping or burning.Continuous physical assults have denied the girl child parental love.others girls have been completely been abandoned.

4.Subjection to Genital Female Mutilation.

This happens when the female sexual organ is mutilated.Mutilation is a way of damaging someones body parmanently by cutting of the sexually organ.In some cases,FGM has led to death through excessive breeding.This out dated cultural activity has subjected girls to both physical and emotional torture.It has resulted to rejection of the girl child by their peers subjecting them to depression.It has also resulted to lowered self esteem.

5.Forced marriages at tender age.

Some communities more so the pastoral have subjected their girls to early marriages.These are communities which still live in the cacoon of believing in Female Genital Mutilation(FGM).The force their daughters to get married after undergoing circumcision.This out dated culture has denied the girl child right to education.

The girl child has equal rights as the boy child.Therefore the girl child should be treated with love and care.No one by any means should deny the girl child her rights.Out dated cultural activities should not be an obstacle for the girl child to enjoy her rights.
